W dniu wczorajszym agencja Food Standards Agency (FSA) wskazała listę 43 mrożonek wycofanych ze sprzedaży z supermarketów Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Waitrose i Iceland. Teraz FSA rozszerzyła listę potencjalnie śmiertelnych opakowań z mrożonymi warzywami o kilka kolejnych produktów.
Mrożone warzywa dostępne w popularnych supermarketach Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Sainsbury's, Waitrose i Iceland mogą być skażone potencjalnie śmiertelną bakterią Listeria monocytogenes. Bakteria ta występuje m.in. w niepasteryzowanym mleku, długo dojrzewających serach, mrożonych warzywach, czy w daniach gotowych. Po kontakcie z bakterią u większości osób dochodzi do zwykłego zatrucia, objawiającego się wymiotami, biegunką i podwyższoną temperaturą, ale w przypadku osób ze słabym systemem odpornościowym, może dojść nawet do śmierci.

Ponieważ bakteria Listeria monocytogenes zabiła przynajmniej 9 osób w Europie, agencja Food Standards Agency najpierw wydała ostrzeżenie przed spożywaniem niedogotowanych mrożonych warzyw, a następnie utworzyła listę potencjalnie zakażonych produktów.
